well. got the car back today from Mike Bass Ford in Sheffield, OH...

And it runs great (minus the ugly sound of a hydraulic fan :( )

but... there is a 2" wide "dead zone" in the steering wheel. and no the tie rods are not bad.

could this be due to the dealership not doing an alignment after they bolted the car back up?

If it wasn't that way before it went in you should take it back immediately.

Im calling them monday morning, and will take the car in friday morning (have a lot of work to do at work so fridays the only day i can take off)

but i noticed yet another problem...

the hydraulic fan stays on constantly when the A/C is on... and its 47 degrees here in cleveland so it isn't overheating.

not to mention the fan sounds like :q:q:q:q and is about to die.

any ideas on an electric replacement?

you have to get under the car and i think there is a plug or something on the side of the trans.

Two things:

I overcharged my A/C on my first LS and it had that very active hydraulic fan as a result. It made it run very fast when it was actually hot out, and when not hot out, it sounded like it should have when it was legitimately hot.

My current ride had just received new outer tie rod ends and still had a dead zone accompanied by a little mechanical clunk when running the steering wheel back and forth. It was an inner tie rod that was now bad. One of my outers had play so I changed them both since I had 132K on it, but also an inner was bad and sure enough the steering is spot on now.

And you should probably find a better place for service if these guys turn over a car like they did.
