Spring is here and I just stocked up on new washing/detailing supplies for this season. DetailedImage had a spring 25% off sale, I couldn't help myself. Left on the list is a good wax for after my LSP and smaller pads

I can't wait to prep the car for my first attempt at some paint correction. Hopefully I can get rid of my swirls leaving me with a perfect DOI and showcar like shine :)

Nice haul, Bull. I've got to replace my 20 yr old Craftsman shop vac/blower - motor finally died last week. Not sure what I'm gonna replace it with yet.
 
Very nice... You are going to feel like a total tool when people see you leaf blowing your car dry... But hey it works! :D
 
^ Lol so true! Best way to dry a car hands down. Have you used "Chemical Guys Black on Black" in the past? I've always used Meguires Back to Black black waxing process on my buddies Audi and its the best black wax I've ever used. But I'm always looking for improvement :-)

I use sprayway because it's cheap and works. My favorite glass cleaner is lusso glass polish. I find it has better cleaning ability and less streaking. Though having the proper towels helps to avoid streaking with almost any product.

Great haul, bullschmidt! Do you have a claybar? You'll need one to decontaminate the paint surface before polishing. DI has their clay at 20% off right now...
 
As far as wax goes, I would start with a layer of collinite 845. Then top with something like Lusso Oro. Gives a similar look as Pinnacle Souveran, but about half the price.

Of course, if you want the BEST (IMO) wax, get Zymol Vintage. A little over $2000, but free refills for life.

I have not actually. It is a trim enhancer though not a wax. Maybe you meant the mothers back to black? I have used that product before and it was alright, didn't last very long unfortunately.

Yup sure do. I have a few actually and planned on using the more abrasive medium clay since I will be correcting after

I was thinking about getting some of the Wolfgang Füzion Estate wax. Comes with one free refill and wooden signature box. Have any experience with that product?
 
That Wolfgang wax is all around impressive. I'd get the connoisseur kit for $225 and for the extra $50 you get alot.

I meant Mothers Back to Black your correct. And I would agree it doesn't last long but hands down kept the car better looking than even some more expensive off the shelf waxes. Luckily for me he's not as consistent in keeping his car as clean as us. That stuff is messy

Hey pete, I got ome of that collonite 845 a while back. On the bottle it says shake well, but that thing is so thick, it's like clay, maybe a little softer. Is it suppose to be like that? How are you suppose to shake something so thick, I'm thinking it actually suppose to be liquid but they sent me a bad bottle. :confused:
 
You need to shake, shake, shake, and shake some more. Mine always arrive thick too. It will liquify eventually. I had to shake it for a few minutes. It won't hurt anything to use it thicker, but a little goes a long way, and it spreads much easier as a liquid.

Also, I don't let it cure too long. I apply to the whole car (just paint obviously), then go right to removing in the same order as applied. Apply it THIN. like can't really see it thin. Otherwise it gets to be a bear to remove.

Regarding fusion, I've found that it looks great on light and metallicpaints, but doesn't reallydo it for me on black. Colly 845 has never let me down, and is super durable to boot.

Sure thing, bud. They call it a wax, but I don't recall any carnauba content. I use either that or blackfire all finish paint protection sealant. They both look great, and are both very slick. I find collinite to be more durable, and is less finicky. Blackfire is also twice the price of collinite.

Before that, though, you do have a good two-bucket wash setup, or a foam gun? Plenty of microfibers? Detailing spray?
 
I have a nice two bucket setup with grit guards and everything but I also do have a foam gun :D

Plenty of microfibers and quick detailer as well. I need to get a couple spray bottles so I can dilute for an IPA wipe down after my compounds and for my Grime Reaper APC to clean my tips so I can polish them
