Fast Idle

My 2000 LS V8 has a high idle or sometimes the throttle sticks while drivn thru town, happens every once and a while. When in park rpm's are up around 3,000. Any body got any thing similar??

Noticed this morning that in park, my car idles at 1000 rpm, and jumps to around 3k very easily from stop. (not me jumpin on gas), is this a timing issue? what do they do to fix it. < not a mechanic This could effect my gas mileage no? thx.
