Fast for a Sunbeam

So the Bugatti may have done north of 250 mph and that makes this seem a bit weak but when you compare the technology and the money involved, this little beastie is pretty fast for a Sunbeam Alpine.

Finally displacing this 1000 bhp monster as the fastest Sunbeam.

I think James Bond drove one in "Dr. No". Some of them had 289's in them.
Sunbeam Tigers were Sunbeam Alpines kitted out with Ford V8s. Maxwell Smart drove one in the series Get Smart.;)
 
Saw that guy and car on Nat. Geo. special on Bonneville- quite a character.

Just to add some detail, the Get Smart car, whilst some scenes may have used badged Tigers (Alpines cutting torched and fitted with V8's) the version that had the gadgets was an Alpine since the gun had to retract through the hood/bonett. The V8 had no room for it.

Bond drove a Series II Alpine in an early Connery installment, Arnold and Rae Dawn Chong use a Tiger in Commando.
