Falcon Mark VIII

Isn't the 5.4 well over 300 cui. This car has a "Boss 291"

Yep. The Falcon uses a 5.4L DOHC V-8. The engine is about 330 cubic inches. The "Boss 291" refers to the power in Kilowatts. That equals out to about 390 horsepower. Use the formula: KW/.746=HP where KW=Power in Kilowatts and HP = Horsepower. There are 746 watts per horsepower.

3.55" Bore
4.17" Stroke
330 Cu. In. Displacement

Formula: B*B*S*.7854*C = D where B=Bore, S=Stroke, C=Number of cylinders, and D=Displacement. You can use inches or milimeters for B and S.

You can also figure out the displacement in liters by using: D*.0164=L where D=Displacement in cubic inches and L=Displacement in liters.

The 5.4L block has about 1/2" taller deck than the 4.6L. So it is wider. That is similar to the difference between the 302 and 351-W. Same bore, different stroke. Taller deck, wider intake. Wider overall dimensions. The heads will interchange between the 4.6 and 5.4, but intakes won't. Just like 302/351-W intakes and heads.

People gobbeled up the Pontiac G8 GT

Yep. And guess what the G8 is: A re-badged Australian Holden Commodore, the Falcon's chief competitor in the Land Down Under. GM has the right idea. Ford just can't seem to grasp it. What Ford needs in the US is a good RWD musclecar to compete with the RWD stuff from GM and Chrysler.

Falcon= G8 Killer LOL looks way nice IMO too. as for what u said KK yep a 5.4 would be more of a hassle but still faster then the 4.6 thats why so many stangs have swaped there 4.6 for the 5.4!

stangs with (most likelly a iron block 4.6) swap to a 5.4 with a iron block, so no real loss, we have the best aluminum block right out of the box. so why go to a weak heavy block to gain 0.8 cubic inches?

as for ford needing rwd hell yeah! only ford car thats rwd and still available to the public is a mustang :( or a truck, there tinkering with alot a awd stuff, but thats no fun

Actually, you're gaining 49 cubic inches going from a 281 cu. in. 4.6L to a 330 cu. in 5.4L. And you know what they say, there's no substitute for cubic inches. And the 5.4L has mountains of low end torque thanks to that 4.17" stroke!
