so my LS hit 90k miles today (only 60k on the engine) and my car needs a tranny flush/ the throttle body needs cleaning. The stealership quoted me about $500 for the job (unsure if that includes labor). So what ya guys think....fair priced or should I see a 3rd party for the tune-up? :P

Well the tranny flush I'd for sure do there. Our trannys are special. Not sure if the tb is a good deal, but that's usually somewhat expensive and you really should go there for the tranny so ...

I think I saw in my dealership papers that the tranny deal was like 250? And I'd assume around 150 for the TB cleaning, + tax so it sounds about right.

lol sounds like the opposite for me...it was 150 for the tranny and i am unsure exactly what was said for the throttle body....

I'm currently getting my VCG done so once I get that over with I'll be doing the tranny and tb in a week (just wanted the VCGs done before my warrenty ends)

I did a tranny flush back in February and it cost $220 CDN (the cheaper option is typically only a tranny drain and fill which only gets about 70% of the fluid apparently).

Is the TB hard to clean?

Don't pay them $500 to clean your :q:q:q:qing throttle body. You know what they're gonna do? They're gonna pick up a can of throttle body cleaner, and spray it in there. Takes all of 5 minutes to remove the intake hose, spray in there and put it back together. I could see maybe paying for a trans flush, but honestly a drain and refill will do just as well.

You can do a better cleaning at home in your driveway for about $20. Go get a can of... you guessed it, throttle body cleaner from your local parts store, and a throttle body gasket from the dealer. Grab yourself an old rag or toothbrush and you're read to go.
There's 4 bolts that hold the throttle body on, remove the intake hose, disconnect any wire harness plugs, and pop the throttle cable off and you can remove it. Clean inside as best you can with the cleaner and tooth brush, scrape the gasket surface clean with a plastic scraper and re- install. Then if you want to go the extra mile. Seafoam it.

I think I did a write up on how easy it is to do trans fluid on our cars. Your looking at 50 in fluid and 5 dollars for a can of crs TB cleaner 55 total. Wish you lived close i'd do it for smokin deal of 399.95 lol

lol ya not too many of you guys near me...well I'll try giving it a shot..not like it is in DESPERATE need of the fixins....just the stealership was letting me know it needs to be done....

if you are at all worried about the tb... I can help

nope no items left out.

So I got my car bac today, finally! Getting my right VCG fixed cost me only 50bucks from the Ford dealership (after my warrenty covered the rest) then I took my car over to firestone and got my tranny flush, tb cleaned, tire rotation, and full inspection for only 240 bucks including tax :-D

but now I gotta get me some new rotors since mine are all rusted up :P

I got my tranny flushed, tb cleaned and ported, and full inspection and in cost me the price of ATF.

:Beer to knowing how to turn a wrench

not really.....all of it has been well maintained except for what needed the fixings everything else is in great condition :P
