factory alarm is giving me a problem

I have a 97MK8..every time I try to start the car...the anti theft light flashes...and the car will not start...need to disable it...

it worked fine before??? did you change keys..get another one made...replace the headlight module?? or did this just happen out of the blue??

I have this same problem on my gen1 95 mark8. It happened when changing the alternator I took off the neg battery cable. On my car under the steering wheele there is a small button you push it in then the car will start. But I want to disarm the alarm as well but dont know what fuse since I don't have the owners manual.

Gen one and gen two are different.
Gen two has the PATS the key has the chip thats why Max is asking the questions he is.
Abbens to disable a gen one you just have to unplug it under the glove box do a search there will be pics.
