so I had an incident

snow + ice + mailbox + inexperienced driver (yes ill admit it) = MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEYYYYYYYYY

so comin down my street back to my house, which is a pretty good hill, i come around the first bend and my rearend gets a little bit loose. I counter steered, and brought it back around and then it slid the other direction, once again I counter steer, (keep in mind this is in a neighorhood) so my ass end is out and I have control of the car to a certain extent. then I saw something on the ground :(

I saaw a freakin melted patch with only concrete and of course my front tires were headed straight for it. I hit the patch and within a second i was completly sideways heading for someones lawn, I panicked and hit the brakes
and they basically locked up and I ended up in this guys lawn.

Now of allllll the mailboxes, plastic, wood, rope?! I hit the only one that is completly metal, with sharp points sticking out. :(

anyway srry for yet another story, but you gotta admit I do keep this form a little entertaining ;) just call me mini mr wilson :)

also now that i look back at it, i think if i woulda stabbed the throttle once mroe i mighta been able to pull it out, but i think bieng in a neighorhood with houses all around got the best of me.

o well. pics

I'm not even gonna try drivin the Mark right now. This snow is rediculous. I think it would be safe to say I would not hit any dry patches tho.

That sucks. How bad is the paint?

I have a mirrior assembly from a gen 1, I don't know if gen 1 and 2 mirrors are the same but if they are I'd be willing to sell it cheap.

pretty damned bad, but thats not the worst of it, if you look on the third pic, you can see a big thing of paint missing on the bottom, if you look closely you can see how badly the door is dented in,

i went to get a estimate, and the guy said 150 for the door alone, i dont konw how the hell they gunna fix the pain and gash's out of the actual body though

Sorry your car got messed up! That really sucks. I would have totaly freaked out if that happened to my mark. Hopefully it can be repaired somewhat cheaply. At least you didn't hit a deer or something. Good luck!!! Oh yeah, your car is a bit dirty.:p

Gen2 mirrors aren't even remotely like Gen1 mirrors.

I have had to replace a few myself due to various "traffic negotiations". ;)

It's pretty easy.

Yay for Phoenix, land without ice. :D

Sorry about your mirror dude - that sucks.

Ive got a Gen II mirror that im selling, its toreader red though youd have to get it painted, let me know.

If the damage isn't too extensive they'd probably be able to just use filler on it. Maybe a little metal work. Blend the paint up and it's good to go. From the pics it doesn't look like you would need a new skin or anything. It's kinda hard to tell the damage though because of all the salt on the car. How much snow did you guys end up getting there? I think we got about 12 inches. My back is killing me from all this damn shoveling.

darkmanslsev8 you have a PM :)

and it wasnt so much the snow as it was ice,
We had the worse ice/sleet storm weve had in about 5 years, and I deff. should not have been out driving the mark.

Oh well, live and learn. good thing I have a job huh :)

I was out in the snow yesterday. Man what a funny experience it always is.

I had to disable my traction control most of the time so I would be able to spin my way out of snowbanks and such.

It's funny going to parallel park and just sticking the nose in, and crabbing the rear end in by spinning the tires.

people look at you wondering whether you are a madman or a genius. :D
