Exhaust Question

You can take a sawsall and try to cut that flare off, or a grinder, then weld on an entension thats been pre flared and a new clamp of the same style already placed on it.
That's the driver side cat, so its made on the manifold. The easiest method of repair would be to buy a new manifold with cat.
Unfortunately I just cut my spares to pieces because my statue needed a rib cage

Assuming that the cat that's part of the driver's side exhaust manifold is worth saving, here's one way to attack the problem.

Cut off the down pipe close to the failing clamp (red line, 1st picture). And I'm certain that you'll also have to cut both exhaust studs (between the flanges) in order to remove the rusted pipe.

Then cut the rusted studs flush with the flange on the cat, drill out, and install new studs.

Finally, weld on a new flared down pipe and flange to replace the piece cut off in the first step.

Any competent exhaust shop should be able to do it.

That is exactly what I had to do and other then the shop not making the flair big enough it has worked out well.... I don’t think it has been said yet but when reassemble happens stainless hardware is your friend.

Thanx guy's! This is something I haven't considered. Cutting off old flare and welding new flare, bracket and bolts in. I will see how this works out 1st.
