I have a 2003 LS V8 with just a Magnaflow muffler swap. It's not as quiet as stock, but significantly louder. I want it a little louder and from reading other posts it sounds like adding x pipe and resonater delete is the way to go? I guess I'm just looking for suggestions. Thanks

Deleting the res will make it louder, adding the x-pipe will take the raspy sound away.

I think ive heard urs on youtube. Did u cut the res?

I have a few different set ups on youtube.

My last was 2.5'' pipes from the cats, x-pipe, bassani mufflers.

The first time I cut the resonators was with my first mufflersm borla, but it was just slightly louder than stock.

Two weeks alter I got flowmaster but since it was too loud without resonators, I had them put back on.

Later on I did 2.5'' pipes, x pipe, magnaflow mufflers, and it sounded real good, just not loud enough for me.

I few months passed and I just swapped the magnaflows for bassani, love it.

when u put the magnaflows on did u leave the resonators on?

Yup.When I had my whole exhaust done from the cats with new 2.5'' pipes, I told them to just install an x pipe and the magnaflow mufflers, meaning no resonators on my exhuast.

I'm going a little nuts. Going 2.5" cat back, no res, cherry bomb extremes. Trust me I will turn heads.

thanks alax 7. I think that's what im goin to do. I dont think cherry bombs is the way to go for me since im trying to get this done with the least expense possible

one more question. Wuld it make a whole lot of difference if i left the piping at the stock size rather than getting the 2.5"?

I have 2.25 manifold back with magnaflow cats, and flowmaster super 44's its loud as hell, and I love every minute of it

is the stock size 2.25 the whole way to the mufflers?

I imagine it wouldn't make much of a difference as long as you can find an x-pipe that will fit on the stock exhaust pipe. I changed my exhaust from stock to 2.5 inch pipes, x-pipe (resonator delete), into Flowmaster super 10s. I really didn't notice a difference in performance. I wasn't expecting an increase in power, I just wanted it louder.

from cats to resonators is 2.25, from resonators to mufflers is 2 inches. i just bought magnaflow mufflers on amazon. just swapped mufflers and it sounds amazing. the muffler number is 12224. type in "magnaflow 1224"in amazon and its 60$ cheapest youll find anywhere. you wont be disappointed. gained 11hp

ya i already have magnaflow mufflers on but i was kinda wanting to get louder but not real loud so im thinking maybe just go with the x pipe n leave the resonaters on and go from there

An xpipe will give you a higher pitched raspy tone, but will also increase HP. I'd use a flow master xpipe though. They have been tested over and over and are shown to flow exceptionally well. All xpipes are not made the same, some can do more harm then good.

I might go with magnaflow. All I've heard is magnaflow xpipes

I think im guna go down to the exhaust shop in the morning and see what they can do. Also i was thinking about a CAI too. Wats people's take on that subject?

An aftermarket runs about $200, but smooths everything out. Good buy on top of exhaust.

where do you recommend i get it from? the kandn website doesn't have a kit for it

i found em on lskoncepts.com but i think they are for the T-Birds which have the same motor anyways and i looked on the k&n website under t-Birds and they had em. the lskoncepts had two different ones typhoon and aircharger and were a $20 difference

i did that but for a T-Bird and had one for 220 with free shipping. Do u think it will work even tho its for a T-Bird?
