So this has been happening about once a month. This time I get a new fault when I get the computer read. To start off the I always get the "ETC engine failsafe mode" on the display. Usually I get two faults when I read the codes something about throttle stuck open the other I cannot remember. THIS time I get "Throttle actuator forced limited power"

Now the first time this happened I was in Fargo, and it was -34F when it happened I can understand that, that is DAMN cold. But today it happened in 24F weather. Is there somewhere I may have moisture? Some thing need some lube? This (to me) cannot be that serious but I am lost.

And I love the Auto parts store guys, (Happened three times now BTW) "ETC error well thats your electronic traction control", no dumbass it is not.

Any help guys, I would GREATLY appreciate it.

More than likely a bad #4 coil (back passenger side). Swap it with another one and see what happens.

Sorry, did not see this sooner.

But my question, (keep in mind I am not questioning your response) but does it make sense that it only happens in the VERY cold I am talking the minus 20's?

I don't know if my experience with this code will help, but here it is anyway.:) I had been having that message on my 04 LS where the engine would die immediately following the ETC-Engine Failsafe Mode message. For 3 years there would be no code when checked by the mechanic so we were stumped as to the reason. This failure would only occur intermittently. A couple of days ago it happened again and this time the Check Engine light stayed on and we found a code. Unfortunately the code just indicated a PCM Memory failure with no clue as to the cause. Since the mechanic had seen this code in the past, and fixed it by replacing the electronic throttle assembly, he did just that. I have only been driving the car for two days since the repair so I cannot be sure if this fix worked. However I can say that throttle control off idle is much improved. The big problem with those messages is that ETC can mean so many different things from Electronic Traction Control to Electronic Throttle Control and many others while the error code are almost as cryptic as the messages in the message center.
