There has been a continuing conversation here regarding the work necessary to install a 'different' engine in an LS. It's not completely on point, but there's a detailed thread on the Jaguar Forum (Google jaguarforum) regarding installing a 3 litre six from an LS into an 'X' Jag instead of the 2.5 that came from the factory.
It makes sense to read and study it, not particularly for the details, but to see how really easy it is to do such crossbreeding. He lists the parts that need to be exchanged, because the 'packaging' is not completely duplicated.
If you look it over, you'll see why I've been saying that the AJ engine in my garage is going to go into my '02 LS without major brain-busting. (See 'Land Speed LS')
