engine swap over heating

Who the hell told you to run water in the first place???

the car needs coolant like any other.

i just had a engine swap and i just put water in it to see how it drove and stuff i got antifreeze in it now and its running good except when i driving slow or stopped it will start to over heat but ill get up to 55+ and the temp gauge will start going to normal i have done some searching and seen about hydralic fan ...( i wonder if would be cheaper or easy to put electric fan on) ... i mean my fan turns but dont speed up at all im pretty sure its the solinode .. is there any way to straight wirer it or any thing to check it?

I think if you straight wire it, your fan will never variate speeds. how much could the solenoid be?

btw, the best way to see if the fan is running correct is to turn your ac on, the fan should kick into high speed, if it doesn't change than there is your problem.

With all these questions Im worried you don't know what your doing, take it to a dealer if you cant find the problem. some of this stuff is just common sense...

yeah i have bleeded the system and when i turn the ac on there is no chage in fan speed ... so do you think i need a new actuator? or a whole new fan and pump

well if you cant see a difference in fan speed then I would say the actuator is bad then, but idk much about the fans in this car, thank god I haven't had issues with mine yet (knock on wood lol).. did you check the fluid and everything and make sure it was the right color? if the fan is working then I wouldn't think it was the fan, its just not going into high speed. There has been a lot of this issue about the fan discussed on this site so the best thing would be to search and find someone that had a similar problem and see what fixed it.

well ill take it to the dealer if i have to..... but ill change out the actuator on the fan and ill see what happens

This aint beverly hills....

lol for sure ... i live in tn more like hill billys lol and it was actually part of the cadalitic converter because i cut the muffler off and it was like steele wool and like a metal honey comb lookin stuff came out

i had my uncle check the color and he said it looked fine and thanks ive been searching and from what everyone says it should be just the auctator on the pump since my still spins but just dont speed up... im thinking about just putting electic fan on and callin it a day lol but im not for sure yet

the color of what.... the coolant? yes it will "look" fine. doesnt mean the system is working properly. you need to follow these instructions to a T, if you cant do this, you need to take it in to get looked at... and if you do that, let them figure out the fan issue. all the same charge... YOUR DOING TO BLOW SOMETHING CONTINUING TO DRIVE WITH IT OVERHEATING. hate to see that happen to the "new" engine.

Pretty sure he means the hydraulic fluid in the fan. It's a good way to tell if someone added water or antifreeze to the Mercon fluid, which would probably trash the fan and the pump.

For $10, the Ford dealer here will diagnose things as long as it doesn't require removing parts. If you aren't sure then that would be money well spent in my opinion.

Wow, it's $100 here.

wow, that must be nice, its $100 here also, just to pull it in to the bay to check anything out.

I don't ask why they only charge $10, I just pay for it when the answer isn't coming to me easily. Granted, that's mostly just a code scan, and an XYZ-point inspection. They don't actually remove anything to check it. So it has pretty limited usefulness.

They would not pull the COPs and bench test for example.

But that does include a full diagnostic and physical inspection as well as a print out of everything that was checked.

even though its just a quick and dirty check, my dealer wont even do that.

i was talkin about the fan fluid and im going to change the actuator and if that dont fix it im takin it to the dealer .... and it cost 100 - 120 here to take it to the dealer ... i wish it was just 10 dollars lol

okay so i got my fan working and the over heating issue done and gone .... so i unplugged my battery thinking i could reset my computer had a check engine light on so when i hooked it back up my car cranked then shut off wouldnt idle right either ... could i messed something up by unhooking the battery?

Your battery has nothing to do with how your car idles
