I have a 2002 Lincoln LS V6

I started my car this morning warm it up for 8 minutes i lived in Ottawa so theres snow. I drove my car for 2 minutes and I felt shaking in the engine when I came to a stop the car engine was shaking and some smell came out the muffler and it smell a little like a burn then my engine light came on . So i turn around making my way back home. i was going to go to the dealership so I turn my car on and the engine light was gone and i drove the car a while and it felt normal. Has someone experience a similar thing before.

Also in the summer I remember taking the car through a pressure car wash and when i started driving a had the same shaking but no smell from the muffler and no engine light came and all i did was turn my car off and restarted it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Yea, the same thing happened to me. I still need to change my VCG's but that seems to be the issue. How many miles does your LS have?

the fact that it is not a continuing problem and that it does it when moisture could be present leads me to believe you may have a problem with water getting in from your crowl area. There is a TSB on this and it's a problem previously mentioned. But you also mentioned the smell. So I'm going to go out on a limb here and say you may have two problems here. They oh so typical valve cover gaskets/coil... and the water intrusion. If this seems to happen almost exclusively when moisture is present, the root of your issue is water. If not... most likely the VCG's.
