Did he check it with the motor off? He does know how to check oil, right (take dipstick out, wipe it off, put back into dipstick tube, pull out and read level)

You can easily find a K&N filter or fram oil filter for the car online, i wouldnt ever change the oil in my baby with out a new filter.

I did not see before that you are in Saudi Arabia. That could certainly make it difficult to get a filter for your American car. :p

Id go find a dealer and get one. Filters clog eventually, and the last thing you want for a clean running engine is a clogged filter.

The only Ford filters that you'll find in each single garage in Saudi arabia are the Crown Victoria Mercury Grand Marquis and The Lincoln Town Car .

Definately get the filter!! If need be, order a bunch of them from five star ford or team ford... Look to the right on the window for their ads.

I bet you're looking forward to winter!!!!

The LS filters are rare . You can only find them in Ford dealers . He went to a regular garage .
Really? I didn't have any trouble picking up a Purolator filter (L15317) at Advance Auto Parts. Alas, no PL15317 (Pure ONE).

When the filter clogs, it opens to bypass oil straight around itself, so no filtering eventually takes place when you don't change your filter. But, anything to save a few pennies, I guess.

I bought my oil filter at auto zone, you might want to check with them.

HE'S IN SAUDI ARABIA!

I wonder how many ford dealerships are over there? I am of course speaking from ignorance with no knowledge of the place. From my experience it is all camels and sand with oil wells and the occasional palace, genie and flying carpet.

Man, good luck with that. I bet the oil and gas are cheaper though.

If anyone would like me to unintentionally disparage their location with equally ignorant stereotypes learned from Disney movies let me know.

Disney doesn't have a stereotype for VA as far as I know. :p

Yeah, not changing the filter is like putting 1 quart of very dirty oil in your fresh new oil change. This is especially true in places with a lot of blowing sand. I assume this is very true in Saudi Arabia, yes? ;^)

Depending on how much dirt you pick up, an oil filter may be good for 3,000 miles or 20,000 miles. I would err on the lower side. Also make sure the air filter is clean. Oil picks up a lot of contaminants from the air the engine sucks in to burn the fuel.

Try mail order for filters. I buy my Wix brand filters thru Rockauto. They have a website. The filters are very good quality and much cheaper than buying at a local store even considering shipping costs. I buy 4 or 5 at a time to decrease the per filter shipping cost. I would guess Rockauto would ship them to SA. Or maybe there is a European mail order site?

Good Luck,

Jim Henderson

I'm stationed in Kuwait right now and fuel is about $1.20 a gallon here. But the military pays about 5.00 a gallon go figure :shifty:
