Okay when I first got my Mark the engine light would come on at highway speeds then go out when speeds would drop below 45mph. I took it to the shop to see if they could get a code from the OBD-I and I was told that I need to replace the O2 sensors. Well I did that last week when I got my Borla's put on and everything was good for a couple days now when drove hard say accelerating quickly at highway speeds to pass that butt hole who speeds up when your light comes on to get over. 55 - 90 the light will come on and stay on till again speeds drop to below 45mph and then sometimes it wont turn off untill the car is stopped for a bit at a red light or turned off and back on. I dont really have the money to keep taking it into the shop when it doesn't do it all the time. I figured someone on here could tell me how to check an OBD-I computer myself while driving to catch a code cause that's when it comes on or does it store itself somewhere. I replaced the O2's with NGK's as that's all I could afford. I also noticed that after replacing the O2's if I floor the car from a stop I no longer burn rubber all through 1st gear with the switch chip activated but only get what I alway's have got with factory program. If that helps anyone out. Sorry im rambling.

You can get an obd1 reader from oreilly, unfortunatly no obd1 will do a data stream..but the code reader is about $30...I'm having about the same exact prob, and my engine is running very smooth

since you have OBD I, a scanner can read codes but not PIDs (Parameter Identification Data), like values for Mass Air Flow, percentages for Long term or Short term fuel management, O2 sensor voltage, RPM-there can be as many as 99 PIDs capable of being monitored on an OBD II (96 and up) vehicle. There are ways to do this on an OBD I, I think, using a wideband sensor and some sort of laptop w/program. others on here will chime on what is possible.

My Chk Light would come on also during highway acceleration and then go off at a slower speed.
Did the Seafoam vacuum line treatment, check light stayed on during the exhaust smoking mode.
Thats been a week now, no check light at all now, highway or city.
Also running Lucas in this tank.

All you need to read codes on an OBD1 Ford is a paperclip.

How would I go about doing this?

Take your intake apart...parts cleaner and brushes..clean with brute force

Could you elaborate on that? What and How would a paper clip get me the codes?

I go up to see Lonnie at Blue Oval Tuesday for my J-Mod and I wanted to tackle this before hand. But looks like rain is due Friday so that sucks.
