I was driving down to the market. (Before I forget 01 V6) And the light just clicked on, lately I've been having problems with the car....well not going. Being on the gas and then not moving. Would it be safe to drive to the dealer in the morning? For anyone familiar with the SoCal area Northridge to Van Nuys, should be alright ya?

And, on another night when my car was going between gears hard this showed up instead of D5.

Transmission I am guessing. If there was an error when shifting. It would only be as dangerous as being on the highway and randomly losing power I guess.

ya might as well limp it 2 the dealer. if the car seems to run smooth, shouldn't hurt it n e more.

No more drag racing on Chanlder Blvd for you!

Your go/no-go problem sounds like the well-known coil problem to me. Given your vintage LS and mileage, it's a good possibility. Can you see or feel oil in the wells where the coils are located? The problem originates with a valve cover gasket leaking oil onto the coils and fouling them.

The "E" on the panel is a diagnostic for the transmission. There is some kind of problem, possibly related to the coils. OTOH, it may be a solenoid pack, which has been a problem on the first generation LS cars. How's the shifting? Is it harsh?

I'd say get it to the dealer ASAP, with your first born, cuz that's what it's likely gonna cost to fix.

+1.

"E" is transmission error. Mine has blinked a couple of times. I read on here that it's the cause of the "mystery beep". Do a search, IIRC, 02LSE96LSC91SE84TC, had his blip on while doing the video for his new gears a while back.

It's the transmission. I need a whole new transmission. I don't have a 4th gear.

I edited, I sounded too angry. I mean I am but still.

I'll bring it up with them, the dealer told me and they've been good to me so far.

My friend just lost his second gear on his LS, but his was covered under warrenty.

is ur warranty gone already? mine is due up soon and all i've used it for was a bad alternator.

Yeah it's gone unfortunately. I'd be saving a lot of money haha, it would make me want to keep the LS so much more if I had one.
