The gears affect your final drive ratio of your car... basically a gear change will change the rpms of your engine in every gear at every speed....

A track lock is an oem Ford posi, and a posi just makes it so both tires are putting power to the ground...

Here's a really good site that can help you see what kind of rpms you will be getting at given speeds...
