Symptom: '02 LS, V-8, 173,000 miles with the classic old spark plug symptom of momentary random hesitations only in high gear when going up a hill.

Question: Has anyone been able to trace this symptom to a transmission problem?

Please! No comments about coils, oil in plug tunnels, or spark plugs!

sounds like coils, you check to see if you had any oil in the tubes, I'd also change out plugs while your at it... Oh.

J/K... yes it could be... but hard to diagnose IF you have coil issues... any other shifting problems

Please! No opinions or responses about coils, oil in tunnels, or plugs. Has anyone been able to trace this symptom to a transmission problem?

Not as I have heard of. It sounds like you only want to confirm your theory and not to actually try to solve the problem. There's no way to say (from this distance) that you are wrong.

Maybe you should let us know if you have already done the coils, plugs, and valve cover gaskets or not before saying not to comment on them. In most of our experiences these ARE the answer to the problems u seem to be having. Its highly unlikely you will be able to diagnose your tranny if you have a misfire

... what we are trying to say (although i dont know why we're even wasting our time) is that its foolish to waste any time or money into trying to fix a hesitation in your transmission IF YOU HAVE COIL ISSUES.... IF YOU COILS have been replaced recently then let us know... NO, THERE HAS YET TO BE A COMMON LINK BETWEEN TRANNY ISSUES AND HESITATION...
