it How would I remove the egr valve So I won't get a cel , is it bad for the car? What will it effect? I only get 15mpg with it being bad now so should i clean it our just get rid of it? Idc about the envirmental effects lol

FWIW, I tried eliminating the EGR system on my 'Bird and the mileage went down by 1-2 mpg. By re-installing the EGR system with working components, I got my 1-2 mpg back.

So a working EGR system will INCREASE mpg. That's been my experience!

When was the last time you tuned it up? The only to get rid of the cel after an egr delete is to get he computer reprogramed.

When I did my EGR delete, I didn't have a tune, but I did have a little circuit made that "fooled" the EEC into thinking the EGR system was working properly so I didn't have a CEL.

The whole reason I made that circuit was because I was thinking that eliminating the EGR circuit would increase MPG if you could keep the computer happy. Circuit worked, but my ultimate goal was a FAIL (MPG went down), so I went back to the original OEM design.
