EGR assembly manifold tube... How the heck to remove this?

Trying to replace the EGR assembly. Kind of stuck at the manifold tube. Do I have to take off the whole intake to get this thing off? I've never done that before and would rather not... Any tips?

What year?
Gen 2 is easy to remove. No reason to take manifold off.
