I have two questions neither of which I could find answered on here previously i have an 04 Ls v8. One does anyone have an economy tune on their car and is it worth it. I love my ls but need more mpg. Second I have rear trunk speakers and a rear amp but none of it seems to be working. I cut the remote wire and tried to test it but was not getting a signal. It does not have a navi unit just a 6 cd changer.

You bought the wrong car.

You bought the wrong car.

Also, be aware that it requires 91+ octane. If you use lower octane, your mileage will suffer enough that you will lose money over all instead of saving it. This is on top of the possibility of engine damage if the knock sensor fails.

Is your headunit OEM or aftermarket?

Its Oem unit but It doesn't have the touch screen or navi unit but has of the centerline speakers or whatever they are called. And yes I know my car is not going to get great mpg but was curious if anyone found and economy tuner that works for a couple extra mpg. While I'm asking questions doe you guys know where to get a MAF adapter without a full CAI/WAI kit I have the filter just need the piece from the engine to filter

The OEM headunit should put out about 7.5 volts at low current on the remote turn on wire for the sub amp when the unit is on. You can check it with a meter, but a test light might not work.

Try LKQ, eBay or a junk yard for the intake. They aren't terribly expensive.

The rear deck speakers are subs; are you sure you are listening for the right sound?

A two MPG boost is an almost 10% bump in highway mileage. Were that possible Ford would have done it as meeting CAFE is tough. The reason the 1st Gens start in 2nd gear in SST is to avoid the gas guzzler tax.

Ok thanks for the Advice on MPG do you know what size MAF adapter the 3.9 takes? Also the volt meter I have puts out no volts on that wire. I put my radio on every setting and stuck my head in the trunk right up next to the speaker and nothing. I cut the wire before the amp to see if the amp was just bad but the wire isn't putting out any volts whatsoever so I'm wondering if it could just be the remote wire or if the harness is bad by the head unit maybe? And I'm still wondering if that SCT economy tuner will give you any MPG boost.

Are you just just wanting the metal piece that has a flange for a conical filter that bolts to the MAF? I think Hite has a part number for those. Also might want to get with him on ordering a heat shield. An open filter will take in engine heat and hurt your MPG.

Yeah I'm not positive what I need I have a cone folter and I can make a heat shield but my maf is in the middle of the stock plastic pipe that connecta to the rubber tube that goea to the engine so what I need Is something to hold the maf and connect to the cone filter on one end and the ruber tube on the other.

A cone filter won't help your MPG at all.

I have an xcal2, and my tunes were made by Torrie. Picking up mileage was an unexpected bonus. My GEN I average was up just over 1MPG, and that was over more than 100K miles. The tune really did pay for itself there. My 06 only picked up about .5 MPG. Torrie will tell you that your experience will vary. Those were with performance tunes, like I said the mileage increase was a bonus. I hand calculate my mileage at every tank.

Well Thanks I appreciate everyone's help!

Got a tune for the 2000 V6. Slightly better power and no MPG improvement (has the original Magnaflow exhaust and cone filter). To me, not worth the ~$300.....

Yeah but I'm wondering if the v8 wouldn't see more gain regardless. Also I found a MAF adapter pipe at advanced auto I will try it tonight and post if it worked ok.

Already answered.

(All 06s are V8s, the same V8 as your 04.)
