E-brake Help Needed, Please

'96 Mark VIII, build date: 3-'96.

I need to replace the left wheel e-brake cable. My parts guy says the cable for cars built 12-'95 and prior is available, but the cable for cars built after is not. Can anyone enlighten me as this situation, please? Does anyone have a cable, new or used that I can buy?

The early ones are discontinued but available through a supplier while the later one (up to and including the 98) is not.

I would like to believe that I don't need no stinking e-brake. Here in the Commonwealth of Mass. It is a required safety item. My car was rejected by the inspector because it doesn't work. According to our inspection rules, If a vehicle is rejected for a safety related item, it must be repaired immediately. No grace period allowed. According to the way the law is written, you are not even allowed to drive the vehicle away from the inspection station. Fortunately, a little leniency is shown there. So, with that being said, I still need an e-brake cable for the left wheel on my '96 Mark VIII which was built in 3-'96. I was looking for a new one which I now find is not available. If someone has a used one and can help me out I would appreciate hearing from them.
