Has anyone solved their trunk lid rattling and vibration noise?? :bash:

...I've already put 2 layers of Dynamat Extreme (Trunk Kit) on the trunk Lid.
But, that darn thing won't stop vibrating, 2 specific center areas on the face of the trunk (opposite ea side)... :drunk:

-I'm curious if anyone has completely deaden the vibration noise from that area by using some type of filler,
or resin, or body filler; those semi-circular holes/grooves/depressions (on interior-side) of trunk lid ??

Also, is there a way to by-pass the Trunk Ajar message or circuitry??
-In which the only way for access is to manually use the key ?? :waving:

I may be wrong but I think it isn't possible to completely stop the rattle. You can make it sound less but you'll still get a low tone rumble when during full tilt.
How much that dynamat cost you? That stuff is expensive

I have 2 layers of dynamat on my lid but its still rattling when the subs hit hard, but MUCH better than without it, my license plate makes more noise than the trunk. I dont really think there is anything you can do to stop it completely. The trunk ajar sensor is on the driver side below the license plate I think, I would check it first because had some issues with mine because it wasn't hitting the inside of the truck when it closed, drove me nuts until I figured out what it was.

The license plate issue you can solve. All I did was buy some weatherstriping and run it around the perimeter back part of the plate. I used some I had sitting around. It asnt that porous foam one but ones you would see in automobiles, about 5\16 in thickness. I then just screwed it back in place. Due to the increased thickness, I had to pres the plate down a bit in order for the screws to catch. I don't use a license plate frame.

As far as the sensor goes, I've never had problems with it going off.

I used Second Skin Damplifier Pro. 2 layers, and the rattle is almost gone. Better than dynamat, and cheaper too. I've used both dynamat extreme and second skin damp pro, and damp pro wins hands down. In fact, they have a new product out called alpha damp that is supposed to be the shiznit.

That gets my vote.

There's no relation between the trunk ajar warning switch and the unlock solenoid.

Are you wanting to prevent remote opening of the trunk? Unplug the connector to the lock solenoid.

Are you wanting to prevent the trunk ajar warning when the trunk is open? Unplug the trunk ajar switch. I don't remember if you have to also short the two wires together at the connector.
Otherwise, why not just adjust the switch so that it works correctly? It should be easy enough to do.

90% of my rattle was the lic plate. I took the surround off and drilled two more holes so I have bolts in all four corners of the plate (vs. just the top two as stock). That combined with Dynamat on the trunk lid, amp/sub rack, and spare tire well eliminated my rattles. That said I have the stock THX amp speaker system. Someone with big amp/subs will most likey still get some rattle from somewhere

Dynamat on the back of my plate and the trunk lid. Still rattles but that's when blasting. idk what's worse though the rattle and flex from the trunk lid or the rattle from my rear bumper cover.

Interesting. Good to know.

I put the expanding foam in the trunk holes. I got it from home depot for like 5 bucks didn't stop it completely but made a big difference.

I have the same setup as pektel, SS Damp Pro is beast. I applied with a rubber mallet and the stuff works awesome. Just wear gloved when you're working with it because it cuts up your hands like a mofo.

My trunk has virtually no rattle (the best you can get I assume). And my woofer fires directly back into the lid.
