Drove next to a MKS....

the dealership gave me one for the weeekend cuz they wanted me to trade in my 04 ls8, now the ls is not that much faster than the mks, the LS feels alot more torquier but not much to brag if you had a 1st gen LS then the MKS is as fast as that one, the interior is beutifull the one i had was fully loaded and the microsoft sync is the best and let me tell you i have a studdddddddder problem and the sync understood me perfectly 10/10 times, and you can control eaverything from your voice. it picked up all my blue tooth phones (i have 2) and i loaded my family pictures onto the hard drive and was able to see them when i drive, ( obviusly i deleted it when i gave it back) the nav does not go inaporable like the one on my LS i can use the nav when i drive, the MKS is alot bigger though wich is fine for me i always thought the LS was too small for a 4 door, thats cuz i always drive with the seat waay back, now this is where the LS excells, dont go looking for corners with the MKS even though it is not a fluffy ride like a towncar it actually feels more like a LS until you turn that corner and then you lealize whooooa i need to take it slow. even though i had the 20" wheel the ride was smooth as silk, and by the way the THX nav can play dvd movies when you are in park so i even uploaded to the hard drive some bootleg divx movies and it played that too, and the sound is amazing, for those like myself that have the THX on their LS and think that the sound sound great on it, on the MKS is WOW it almost made me buy cd's again instead of downloading them, and by the way if you do have original cd's or any cd's at all as soon as you insert it you have the option to rip it right onto the built in Hard drive. so the verdict is this if you have any other lincoln other than a LS you will love the MKS it is really that good now if you have a LS and your really the sporty, run fast, cut corner just for the HELL of it then the MKS is not for you wait for the TT version, but if you dont do those things MKS is what your lookin for.

FWIW, I gave thought to the probability of my '02 LS being a true 'keeper' before I had three grand worth of custom roll cage put in. Until that time I could have returned it to stock in about a half day.

I believe cars are best handled it one of two ways---either kept 'forever' or traded every other year. The LS is a 'forever'.

Was speaking with a few guys I know from when I was working in Nascar land. According to a few Ford Racing buddies the twin turbo V6 for the MKS has been put on hold until 2010, possibly forever. With the current economy and turf wars within Ford marketing it looks like a performance leaning Lincoln may be a dead issue. For what it's worth I've had Ford engineers tell me many times that they felt that the LS/S-Type platform had more potential and was better engineered than just about anything else they make. It was just never marketed well, both to the public and internally to Ford management.

The ecoboost engine comes out summer 09.
