Driver door weatherstripping? Will dealer pay?

My recently acquired 03 has a few small things that I"m out to fix. One of those is a worn area on the door seal of the driver sid. Evidently the last owner was a person of "size" and whenever they entered the vehicle their posterior rubbed the door seal. Its worn pretty thin in that area with a few small holes showing up in the rubber. Right at the middle of the door frame on the piller.

It doesn't leak, but I'd still like to get it replaced. My car is still under warranty, but I've read that it doesn't cover weatherstripping.
Has anyone gotten a dealer to replace this under warranty?

If not, where can I locate that piece.

Thanks all.

Where have you read the warranty doesn't cover weatherstripping?? I just had mine replaced under warranty on my 03 Aviator last year because of a wind noise.

I know I read it on the extended warranty site, but I believe it also states in the paperwork that came in my LS that weatherstripping was not covered.
Hopefully I'm wrong!

How many miles are on your '03, and what is its "in service" date? If you're under 50,000 miles on the odometer, and if you're under four years from the in service date, your car is still covered under Lincoln's factory bumper-to-bumper warranty, and the extended warranty exclusions do not apply.

If you don't know your in service date, you can call Lincoln Customer Service with your VIN, and they can tell you if you're still in the warranty period.

I'm still under the factory warranty according to the vin check I had the local dealer do. The car will go out of warranty in Oct 07. I don't even have 23k on the clock yet so I have a bit left.

I'll give the dealer a call tomorrow and setup an appointment. I need a window looked at as well.

Are there any updated computer "codes" for the transmission? I've read of a bit of a "thunk" when going 2nd to 3rd or vice versa, and my car has a second where it feels like its in neutral when I'm using select shift to go from 3rd to 2nd. Just the nature of the beast? I don't notice so much when I leave it in auto.

Thanks again.

Wear to the door seal due to entry and exit of the vehicle is not a warranty issue. Ford motor company wont pay for it. Now if the dealer wants to warranty it and take the chance that ford wont pay the claim....thats a different story, im just letting you know fords stand point on the issue.

Like the good book says Jay, "The truth will set you free!" thats pretty much what I figured. That door seal does look a bit duller than the other seals though, like it had been made from a different material, or had been cleaned by something that caused it to deteriorate faster than normal.

Is there anywhere online that it can be found? Maybe a junkyard would be my best bet if I have to buy it myself. I imagine its pricey.
