Ok so I found a thread on here about drag lites being hard to get ahold of and holeshots being more expensive but working very nicely.

heres my question though... whos run drag wheels on their marks? what are you running? and does anyone have a set they are getting rid of? LOL

nobody.

Not so much...

Burbank98LSC had drag wheels on his car... and if you go on TCCOA there are a bunch of guys running drag wheels on their Tbirds.

draglite doesnt make a wheel for the mark VIII but most guys use the aluminum rims for our spare tires and run regular tires on them for the front, and t-bird 15's on the back with a slick or drag radial tire. 15's will fit on the back, but not in the front unless you remove the calipers, but that makes stopping fun at the end of the 1/4 mile lol.

i dont know about 15's fitting over my back brakes like they do on the marks

They were 15'' steel donuts on the front and 15 x 6.5 T-bird wheels on the back

I watched the Vids againg and saw that... he is doing a hub swap and putting on some drag wheels for next summer right?

While I haven't checked yet for sure the rear brakes on the LS look very similar in size compared to the fronts on my sons "shaggin wagin" 97 Sable. I will check for fit in spring. A quick bath scale weigh in put the Sables Aluminum 15x6.5 wheel w/tire at about 35lbs, almost 10lbs lighter than the 17x7.5 LS stockers.

Yes ,that's correct.I have a set of Weld Prostars and set of BS Street Lites that we're test fitting on Mike's car shortly, weather needs to warm up a bit first.

I was looking at the back brakes today... I think its worth pulling my girls 15" steelies up there for fitment

Should look b/a man good luck. Id throw gt pbrs on my car but it'd be a waste. Although I could sell my cobra brakes and get gt's for a quarter of the price.

You can fit front Prostars with 13'' brakes ,I'm running Cobra 13'' brakes on my 96GT too ,all you need is longer studs and 3/4'' spacer.

I thought about that actually.. Im just too lazy to put longer studs in. I have a pair of draglites.. Think I could do the same?

Sorry to resurrect an older thread, but...

I have been researching this all day. and what I have found is that the 15" wheels will clear the rear brakes, but I have not found out for sure on the fronts though.

I am guessing that above they are talking about fitting skinny Prostars to the front with a spacer to clear the brakes, is that correct?

I would love to run Prostars on my Mark VIII (hub swapped, of course) I think it would be bad ass. I just cant seem to get myself in to the "bigger wheel" scene.

Run these in 17x4.5's, they are bada$$ dont go with the MEGA played out "standard" Weld line of Draglites or Prostars. I have these on my T/A and they look saweeeeet as hell. Look like the ultra expensive Weld AlumaStars.

how much do they weigh? What size are those? 15x? I only see 15 and 20" on that site, and I don't see a price on the 15X8 do they not come in that size?

I still need to figure out what needs to be done to fit a 15" wheel on the front of a Mark VIII...

Yes they come in that size, you can also get 17 inch skinnies and meats with no worries of anything hitting and no hub swap. I have 15x16 rear and 15x5.5 in the front.

Thanks for the info. I still like the look of a 15" wheel. something similar to this:

This car would be perfect if it was like 1" lower, or slightly bigger tires in the rear.

Only thing that would worry me about having a set of lightweight rims on my Mark is bending em

I have rims that aren't even that light on my WRX and I have bent em all hitting holes I didn't see. That is on a car that is about 600 or 700 pounds lighter too!

with a 15" wheel, you are gonna have to hit some pretty intense pot holes to damage a wheel. there is a lot more side wall on a 15" tire/wheel combo.

ONEBADMK8, there are not a lot of pictures of 15" wheels to show as an example, so I have to take what I can get. :) Definitely don't need tires that skinny up front, but I wonder how skinny I would need to clear the rotors...

With my WRX I had 17" Konig Glides with 245/45 tires on em. So it ain't like I had some O ring tires on it. Matter of fact I have 2 of those same tires on the back on my Mark right now.

They hook rather well at E-town but the rims are steel so they are heavy. Plus they give me a lot of room for big brakes on the Mark. When I did the big brake swap on the WRX it made all the difference in the world on a car that had good brake in the first place!

I can't find a close up pic of the brakes but you can see how big they are in the front rims from this view. There 14.5" in the fronts and 12.5's in the back if I remember correctly?
