Ok guys UPS delivered my Avic F90BT today but I wasn't home so i'm going to pick it up tonight since I will be out of town for a week this coming weekend and I won't be at home tomorrow when they deliver it. I'm about to go out and prep the car so when I get back to the house with it I can just throw it in. Already got a aftermarket radio now so the wiring harness is already there so the only thing I need to do is put connectors on the radio harness and plug in. Right now I'm researching online about the steering wheel interface to see where I need to tap in at. Be looking for pictures later on tonight. I'm excited like a kid at Christmas, lol.:D

I get that way too whenever I'm getting something new for my car. When I was waiting for my Kenwood Excelon double din, I had trouble sleeping the night before!

How come you guys order everything online? You guys do know if you go to places like best buy and 6thave, their prices are not set in stone. Almost every audio dealer will drop their prices as soon as you ask, unless it is a small mom and pop shop. When I first got my Alpine wa200(when it first came out) The list was 1200. I walked out of the store with it in hand, the double din kit, I pod connection wire and my sirrius satellite for 800. And they even threw in the 2 sets of Rca cables I needed. They were listed at 60 apiece.

Usually Best buy does not stock the parts you need and their salespeople (for the most part) are idiots. I buy all my stuff online because it is cheaper 99% of the time and I dont have to go out and deal with crowds, traffic, etc. I can do all my shopping sitting in front of the screen in my Underoos...Try that at a Best Buy...

Just kidding about the Underoos, I wear Hanes

Amen!

you are about Some of those large chains stores. But they will order what you want usually over night or have it in another store. For instance my JL audio ZR componets go for 869.99 on crutchfield. 6th ave carries them for 799.99 Best buy does not carry them at all. And the local audio shops they sell from 700 to about 950. Well I went to 6th ave, told them i want 2 pairs and told them what i want to pay. I walked out with them for 1000.00 By the way this was about 2 hours ago. Certain things don't move to well. Expensive components and headunits will sit around. And usually the store will get rid of it at cost just so they don't lose out. All of my systems have been bought this way. Usually I have the better goods than the next guy and for less money. Try to find a brand new Alpine PDX 1000.1 for 400.00 Or that JL 13W7 they sale for around a grand, thats a 600 dollar sub with enclosure. Maybe even less now.

Well, not all of us have a 6th Ave available to us and are stuck with BB or CC. some of the smaller companies locally wont budge on prices. Besides there is so much better equipment out there that is not available in many local stores and are more easily or only available for purchase online.

Elemental Designs, RE Audio, Hertz, Seas, DLS, Rainbow, etc....

lovely thread and sounds like it needs my .02 cents. im a retail manager of a local car audio store. maybe you've heard of it before, the specialists. we are located in tucson az. and have been mobile electronics retailer of the year 6 times and have won numurous awards. anyways you are rite, local shops and even big box stores will lower there prices tremendously if haggled. but when u are getting the kind of price drops you are talking about (400 for a pdx 1000) that is because of overstock, last years model, or the product simply just didnt move. if you came to my store and tried to haggle me for that price i would simply say no way and sell it to the next guy inline for around 650. but you are definatly rite ''no price is set in stone'' but some deals are once in a lifetime but hey no harm about gettin them to take 10 to 20 percent right off the top. sorry for the rant

The start of the aftermath!

Well guys I finally got it and got the old unit out. It has gotten dark on me and I got to get up early in the morning so i'm at a stopping point but I did manage to snap a few pics. The only problem that I'm having is the wiring and trying to make everything fit. I did a test fit and I'm going to have to mess with the wires especially the RCA cables (3 of them) in order to get it to fit right. Also I have to run the GPS antenna, and the microphone. I'm going TDY this weekend and won't be back untill next week. Here a few pics of the mess I've made in my car and of the unit.

Please don't misunderstand my point. I would gladly support the local shops if they would at least try to deal. Even if they cannot beat the price or match it, if they are willing to work with me, it might actually get them more business as I might be more inclined to let them install it as well. It just is not the norm that I have seen where they are willing to negotiate to a respectful level. I also still feel that there is alot of equipment that is not available at the local shops that is excellent and better priced than the equipment at the local shops.

I am glad to see that you are willing to work with your customers, but you are in AZ and I am in TX....not really gonna work out...

I have never heard of your shop as well. I am pretty much in NYC, So AZ will not work for me. And as you know a PDX amp is not outdated, And I actually bought the first one they had recieved. Along with a 4.150 PDX. I think I got the amp for a better price due to the fact that my cars are well known in my area. And getting products out seen and heard is key for moving them. When I took my car back to the store, the manager asked if I could pull the car around back and let a few people hear the new amps. The 1000 was running a Alpine type X 12. Needless to say they sold the 3 remaing amps on the spot. By the way I am putting a custom box with 4 10" Solo's for sale soon. They are from my S 10 pickup. I already sold the other 2 subs. There was 6 all together in that truck.
