I just bought an 03 Lincoln LS V8 Premium Sport. It's got the 6 disk indash head unit and what appears to be a TON of speakers... maybe upwards of 10 or 12. I'm looking at installing a double din Alpine touch screen; I've figured out that I need the face plate off the factory Nav system head unit and a lot of time cutting and trimming to make it work. However, what is the wiring like? Are there any sub-systems that run through the radio? If so, how do you bypass them without jacking something up? Also, does anyone know where I can get a steering wheel controls adaptor so they will remain functional with the new head unit?? Does the car come with factory amps? If so, how many and where are they? It would appear to me that the antenna is in the top of the rear window; anyone know if this will be effected by window tint? I can throw in a concealed amplified antenna but if the window antenna will be okay there's no reason to mess with it.

I've done plenty of single din installs where they didn't really need to intigrate with any other factory systems (dash dimmer the only exception), along with a number of speaker/sub and amp installs. But this is certainly a new one to tackle. Any info any of you can give me would be great! I also would love to see some pictures of Double Din installs either in progress or finished pictures.

Thanks everyone!!

I am working on a how-to with pictures that should be finished pretty soon on how to install double din units in the LS using the 03+ factory navigation bezel. With a little patience, it is not too difficult.

Hi, welcome to the forums. I am sure someone who's done this swap in an LS will chime in.

yeah... I've been searching all day and I've had no luck locating any detailed info on wiring or steering wheel control adapting. Thanks for being a Smart A#& though!

Hmm. I just spent less than three minutes on google. and I dont know jack about alpines and remote dapters.

And you should not expect anything less than me being a smart ass to most people.

Well... that's good and all... and it MIGHT work; but they don't list the IVA-W200 as a compatable radio. I will have to call and ask; might just be it's a new radio and they havn't updated compatability? But this does bring up another question... What type of steering wheel controls do we have? I see something about working with a CAN module or something in one of those interfaces. The one link didn't list anything compatable with Lincoln... but the second one might be of some major help.

No one know's if anything funky is wired through the stereo??

I look forward to seeing it!
