just bought a kenwood ddx418 for my mark viii, a few concerns regarding fitment...what have some of you guys done to properly fit a aftermarket double din in your marks? pics, process, did you have to cut?

Use a razor blade to trim the top dash part.
I used a 9" extension and removed the bracket in back and ziptied the big module to a post.
You can use http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_7638_Metra-95-5026.html as a dash kit but it will require a little trimming(easy).
I never did any of the bracket or center removing.
Took a Dremmel and shaved a couple mm off the top of the inner opening, shaved a couple mm off the bottom and slid the deck in using tiny l brackets attached to the ISO din holes and bolted in place.
I have also shaved the couple mm off the top and bottom and a hair off the sides and used a DD cage.
I have also shaved a little less and pressure set the deck in there.
