Not a double din but I made a false faceplate for my Alpine deck about
15 years ago. It was made out of a flat piece of ABS plastic trimmed
to fit inside the trim where the real removable faceplate went.
Have no pic but I predrilled 4 holes the size of an 18 ga
hook-up wire and two holes 1/4" in diameter.
I covered the faceplate side facing the occupants with black velour
using 3M super trim adhesive spray.
Once the adhesive dried, I trimmed the edges free of any
overlapping velour material with my exacto knife.
I then superglued 6 to 8 inches of hook-up wires to the predrilled holes.
Also superglued some scrap wire harnesses from an old radio I had
laying around to the last two holes. I frayed the wires a little to simulate
cut, vandalized wire coming out of a blank space where the headunit
would have been.
With 35% window tint on the car, it appeared like my stereo has been stolen.
I never had any problems with anyone trying to break into my car.
