Door Panels Leathers Pealing off...

on my passenger side door panel the leather's comming loose... I was just curious what kind of glue would you use?... I have something call the like Pit crew choice.... would that work?... I'm gonna be pulling my door panels off soon to replace the tweeters and figured I should fixed the leather at the same time... any suggestions?

i think most just use spray glue (3m contact cement)

Right on... how would you do that if you don't want to rip the leather off?... it's just coming loose in parts not the whole thing...

is the top coming undone, is that whats coming undone, if so, glue wont hold, you need to heat it with a heat gun and stretch it back over the top, pull down tight and staple it along the plastic ridge on the back side.

it is the top comming undone... but I glued one side and it's pretty solid... a lot more solid than it used to be... but Staples?!?!?... that's kinda scarey... wouldn't that crack the plastic?... I've never had good results from stapling or nailing into plastic... I think what I'm gonna do since it is just the top... I'm gonna glue it down and take some Gaffer's tape... it's kinda like painters tape but a lot stronger and tape it up really well and let it dry that way... thanks for the info though

use the same 3-m glue you or a headliner.It will should have a little straw with it (like w d -40 )

I used gorilla glue. Had a friend stretch it while I clamped a 2x4 to edge with wood clamps. It's held back to perfect for about 2 years now. make sure you use a constant flat surface as your 2x4 because the glue swells as it sets, you have to keep it from swelling. I used it liberally, also. It's not as though anyone sees the edge under the rubber as long as you do it right.

i've stapled about 12 door panels with a neumatic staple gun made for upholstery work, and its never cracked the plastic, it will if you use staples with too thick of a gauge, the ones i have slip right through the plastic and then i bent the prongs over and stick the panel back on, you can see the staples either, you have to put them as low as you can on the backside. ive tried glues and i have seen other panels that have been glued and it always lets go, a staple never will.

Gorilla glue huh?... that stuff EXPANDS a lot... did you wet both surfaces before you did it?... that's what you're suppose to do... well that's what the instructions say on the container... I think I'm gonna try the 3-M glue seams the easiest... but I'm gonna clamp it too... thanks for all the advice guys!!

No, I didn't wet the surface first, But I did clean it with a wet rag. I read that suggestion also, didn't make sense even with the manufacturer stating that's what to do. It worked perfect, the 2x4 kept the glue from deforming anything. That stuff is pretty strong. I cut the ooze off with a blade knife afterwards. Still looks like new.
