I recently tried to get in my driverside back door and realize the door lock was not responding to the remote nor was it responding to the pressing of the lock and unlock button in the front seats. What is worng and how do I fix it ?

It is actually just that one backside door not responding to the remote and the front lock and unlock buttons.

It's most likely the lock actuator on that one door. It's built into the door latch assembly. You can replace the complete assembly, or you can tear it apart and see if you can figure out what is wrong.

Seems like an expensive and difficult job. I'm pretty much hands on with simple things: oil changes, filters, etc. Is it something I should try or take to a shop???

No its easy.. I had mine go on on the driver rear as well and I took it all the way off ( the actuator ) but I couldnt figure out how to fix it.. nor have I bought a replacement, but its a pretty easy install comparing it to the disassembly.

I had the same problem. Mine got jammed and wouldn't respond to any buttom, open pr close. I couldn't close it manually after a few times opening and closing it. Turn out to be a little lever came loose and jammed everything up when trying to close. I took it apart and figured it out.Dont take it to a shop, It's easy. The hard part was getting the actuator off to take a look at, but now that I know what to do, piece a cake to take off
