I put highbeam bulbs in my foglights. Driver's side light is melting:(

maybe it's a difference in the 03+ foglight design. I also drive a lot so maybe having them on for long distances makes them overheat? dunno.

its because u used the wrong one. 9005`s are for the high beams. 9145 is the one for the fogs, then 9006 is for the low beams. atleast thats for a 00 ls.

im running them in my car and have not had any problems...02 with 45-55 watts I cant remember....

Is the light itself melting or the harness....

I have the 100 watts 9005s in my fogs for over 2 years, I had the connector melt once, but I changed it.

Good luck finding the 9145's.

I have looked high and low and they do not exist anymore unless you get them at the dealership service dept.

Try H10 (I think).

It's the clear lens in the front. there's a white melted spot on it the size of a quarter. It's the spot closest to the tip of the bulb.

i just got two 9145 silverstars yesterday from advance autoparts to match the lowbeams i put in last week, they were the last 2 left. i was kinda lucky. only place here that had them. my next thing is the high beam 9005`s.

ok then the next big question is what is the difference between the 9005 and the 4195 or H10 lights - i have hear that they are almost identical other than the tip of the H10/4195 are coded.

The 9005 and 9145/H10 bulbs share the same socket connector type. It is true that the 9145/H10 bulbs do have a painted tip.

ok thanks grayghost1, i have also heard that the 9005 are a little longer or has a longer TIP than the 9145/H10 bulbs - if that is soo that may account why his fogs are burning up if they are in contact with the plastic.

My passenger side lens melted but that was because I didn't have the bulb locked all the way in and some moisture got into it after I got the bulb completly seated I have had no more problems with my 9005 bulbs

BEAUPS, is it possible, can this be happening to you , maybe its the same thing that TheRebel had, check to see if you got the bulb on right does it look like there is mosture in the fog.....

no it's melted. you can feel the melted spot protruding slightly outward.
