I realized I have a lot of funny habits when it comes to my car. Like for instance, I won't use windshield washer fluid because it's "too dirty" for my windshield. Anyone else have some funny habits like that because we care all too much about our cars?

I use only water its better!!

That wont work in colder climates, your washer fluid tank will freeze and burst.

I don't put any of my cars in gear either unless they have dropped into low idle, unless I'm in a big hurry to be somewhere. It's harder on the drivetrain.

The washer fluid thing was kind of wierd though, I wanna see through my windshield so that I don't wreck into something...doing more damage than soap and water will fix. LOL

I always put gas treatment in my tank when I fill up :p SOmetimes Octane booster :D

I call it my own little form of OCD but I always turn my radio off before I get out of the car. I don't know why or how it stared but I always do it....

When I bring take-out food home -- pizza, chicken, chinese, whatever - I always put it in the trunk so it doesn't mess with the new car smell. I have a thing for the new car smell. ;)

Dear lord I'm going to sound like I belong in a nut house but heres my list

1. I wond start the car untill the seat and wheel have stoped moving.

2. I too will not put the car in gear till it drops to idle.

3. I allways pull the hand brake before I put the car in park.

4. I allways make sure the stereo and A/C are off before shuting the car off.

5. I allways set the visor mirror linghts to the lowist setting before I close them.

6. When I work on her I try to make shure if I take a bolt out I put it back in the hole it came from.

7. When I wash her I allways use filtered water never tap.

I know, I need to seek some serious help. :(

Man, I was understanding until you got to the filtered water thing.....:D
That is one spoiled LS

my car's never been farted in ! To the best of my knowledge, that is.

3. I allways pull the hand brake before I put the car in park.

I always do this, and everytime I park, I park as far away from a vehicle as possible. Don't get me wrong now, if there is an end spot up front I'll take it =)

I never park by beat up cars or two doors.

Exactly. That's why I mix my own windshield washer brew. Lately, I've been going with Evian water spiked with P21S Wash Booster. I tried one of those "cleansing teas" mixed with Pellegrino, but instead of cleaning the windshield, it gummed up the system. :(

5. I allways set the visor mirror linghts to the lowist setting before I close them.

I like to make sure all the A/C vent louvers are level and pointing straight forward. I also polish my exhaust tips regularly.

I answered yes to all of the above as far as obsessive habits with the vehicle go...

when im at the mall i will always park next to a nicer looking car than mine or a more expensive one because if someone comes to steal one of them, it will be the nicer one and not mine. plus the owner will not hit my door cause he likes his car too.

everytime theres food in my car, when it comes out, i open all the windows even the sunroof & blast the interior heat or a/c because i have those air fresheners in the vents and i cant stand a car smelling like food.

shut my system and radio off when im in a bad neighborhood.

when i drive fast and weave like every teen does i always hold the shift nob i just feel like i have more control.

thats all i can think of.

It doesn't have to do with cleaning, but I almost always back into a spot. I get closer to the passenger door of the car next to me and away from the drivers door next to me. Most people ride alone?

That car is gonna last FOREVER! :)

NO automatic car washes for my Lincoln. Always do it myself with my own things.

1- Always wash car before and after road trips and after any time spent on the highway due to the bugs.
2- Always wait until car drops idle to put in drive.
3- Always back into spots.
4- Always put car in neutral........then park when im done driving....seems to go smoother on the transmission.
5- Never use washer fluid unless its raining.....otherwise i have a bottle of window cleaner and rags to clean the windsheild.
6- No car washes.
7- Clean inside of wheels everytime.
8- Avoid all puddles on the road.
9- Kick my feet together before putting them in the car.
10- Dont put my windows down after washing.
11- Never have the radio on the first few minutes of driving to make sure everything is sounding OK with the car.
12- There are quite a few more things i do, but these are the main ones........does this make me a freak?

Ok, I am doing some of the things that you guys do too, but the ones that I noticed are:

1. No food at all in my LS, even in the trunk (Yes, I do love to eat)
2. No more than 3 persons are allowed in my car including me, because my LS is a 3 seater (my seat is layed back and I am not planning on putting it up for nobody).
3. Nobody wears seatbests in my car including me (I know, it's not safe, but I really hate them with passion)
4. Whoever gets out of my car, I make sure to tell them to close the door from the handle and not from the window or the black pillar so there won't be any fingerprints on it.
5. I never drive over 135mph in my LS.
6. I always put the car in Neutral after Drive or Reverse before I put it in Park (like DLS8K does).
7. I rarely use handbrake, only because the interior looks kind of messy when it's up.

Of course I park far from everybody, wash it only in one special hand car wash and clean my rims/grill/headlights every other day.

I do the same!

my 2 cents...

1) I always double park, unless I'm next to another LS.

2) Cigarette lighter was disgarded.

3) I always drive with parking lights on.

4) I always wait for easy-entry seat to stop moving before starting or exiting the car.

5) Wave to every other LS driver out there!

this has to be one of the dumbest things I have ever heard. Dude wouldnt you rather live?

I don't know if it's the dumbest thing you have ever heard of whatever but I get really uncomfortable when something is tight or pushing on me, so I rather seat comfortably.

I still have plastic mats from the dealer over my factory mats. seperate wash mitts for body, wheels and wheelwells.I only use dressing on tires because there is no need to put it anywhere else.I can't stand that greasy crap on everything whether it be a new car or an old one.YUK!
