Does your seatbelt retract by itself when you unlatch it?

My old one did not, so I purchased a brand new oem one to the tune of $165. I think I was giving a defective unit because it does not retract by itself. I have to guide it back. Also when I pull it all the way out it does not go into the self locking mode where you can hear it click. The other seatbelts do do this.

Does it sound like I received a defect? Please check yours and post up. thanks guys.

Mine didn't, but I cleaned the belt and now it works great. The driver's belt won't lock like the the other ones do. That's the child car seat function. Try cleaning all the belt guides.

Well I just bought it as a brand new seat belt so I just wanted to make sure it wasn't defective.

So the pull all the way out and click thing is only for the other seats because of child seats? So that's why the drivers side doesn't do that. Are you speculating or is that fact?

Just want to make sure I know what i'm dealing with before I call and lay into the company.

If you want to test the locking ability (i.e. how it is supposed to work in an accident), pull out about 12-14 inches of the belt and then give it a good yank. It should lock

Yeah it does that. I tried that but was curious why the other seat belts did that retractor thing when pulled all the way out, but the drivers seat belt didn't do that. But you already answered that, so we're all good.

Thanks for the help.
