Car has been running great for the past few weeks, then I decide to go race. Stop at the ATM on the way there, put it in park and it dies. Starts right back up and dies again. Start it again and rev it up and it stays running this time. Should have just went home then but I didnt. It was an omen.

Track is 100 miles away. Get a check engine light about 10 miles from the track so when I get there i read it and its P0153 (o2 ckt slow response). Figured no big deal I came all this way I was gonna make a couple passes.

15.275 at 89.94 mph with a 2.21 60' = car not running right

Notice it has a miss and starts to get worse after the 2nd run of 15.333 and 3rd run 15.335. Figured it was time to call it a day so I wouldnt have to pay for a tow truck to go 100 miles.

Get it home and read the codes again and find this:
P0305- miss cylinder #5
P0741- TCC solenoid stuck off

So I am guessing the torque converter not locking up + miss + bad o2 = crappy 1/4 ET.

How much does elevation effect the ET? Say at 2000'? Just curious.

Bought a new coil at AZ today and new plugs, gonna do that tonight. Hopefully next time will be better.

That sucks. If I drove that far, I'd prolly run it a few times too while I was there. Glad it got you home, at least.

Well I figured out it was a bad plug not the coil. Dumb@ss me should have checked that first, but at least now I have an extra just in case.

Will the TC not locking make you slower? I would guess that it does but dont know a lot about that.

Pretty sure that the O2 sensor when bad will make the computer pull timing too. Is it possible the bad plug caused the O2 to throw a code too?

I went to the drag strip on 4-10-11 and mine wasnt running as well either it was spitting and sputtering a bit and it was breaking up a little over 5000 rpm's. But I wanted to try running it with the OD off since mine was locking up to soon at the end of the 1/4. With it off all the way I ran a 12.7 ET but at 111 MPH . The ET is .2 tenths slower than my best but the MPH are 5 MPH faster than my best. So I tried leaving it on untill over half way down the track and then turn it off and then back on right at the end when it red lines. That yeilded a 12.5 ET at 108 MPH. My best over all so far But I'm sure it would have been better if it wasn't missing.

It could have if it was puking gas into the cat.
If the code don't come back it would be my guess it was.
