So on my ford it seems extremely easy since its out in the open but on this car it seems I have to dismantle the entire rear to get it off and drain it?

Alternately, you could put a hose in through the fill plug and suck out as much oil as possible and refill it.

That's what I did. I was only about to suck out about a quart with the hose I had.

You came pretty close then. It should hold 1.3 quarts.
