over the weekend i replaced the valve cover gasket on the passenger side to include new coil packs and plugs.

BIG thanks to all the members that contributed to the "tutorial(s)" in the tech articles.

does the dielectric grease evaporate over time?

They're COPs, not coil packs. (Sorry, can't help it.)

No, the dielectric grease should not disappear within the lifespan of the plugs. Each time you put a new plug or coil boot in, then you need to add more grease.

Yes... COP sorry about that. Was in a hurry. The only reason why i asked was because when i pulled out my COP's on the passenger side, the insides were bone dry. I squeezed some in the tube, put the COP on, pulled it off, then squeezed some more in and reseated the COP and bolted it down.

I would assume (and you know what can happen when you ass-u-me) that no grease was put on when it was installed. The purpose of the grease is to help make a liquid tight seal between the boot and the spark plug insulator. I always put some grease between the boot and the plastic of the coil too.

I would assume the same thing from what i saw. I bought the car early 2006 from an auction. only had 46k ish miles??? anyways i have been driving it ever since and now the car has 93+k. so perhaps those plugs and COP's are originals. one of these days I think i will replace the plugs on the drivers side.
