my buddys cadillac has an onboard diagnostics that is triggered by hitting two buttons on his heater. i was wondering if the lincoln had anything like this

You can perform a self test on the climate control system only, by pressing off and floor at the same time then releasing and hit automtic with in 3 seconds.

thats pretty cool but his car shows the codes that have been on the car, and it shows current codes too in his little message center, anything like that on the ls?

nope, you can just get the codes from the climate control system.

Double check your buddy's Cadillac. The last time I checked one of those, all they could get was heater codes too using that technique. Doesn't mean they haven't changed.
