I realized a couple of weeks ago that my degas bottle had died, evidenced by a drip from the driver's side firewall area.

I was in somewhat of a hurry, but I went to the Rockauto website and attempted to look up the part. Didn't find it, and dropped it at that point. I don't drive the car every day, and hadn't pursued it until today.

Went back to the website, and once again found the hose, but no 'coolant recovery tank' or anything else that the degas bottle might be listed as.

A call to Rockauto produced polite indifference. "If it's not in the catalog, we don't have it. We change the catalog every couple of hours, so if we don't have any in stock we simply take it out of the list."

Since it's my observation that customer service in this country is the domain of cretins whose stock in trade is massive indifference, and therefore this might be an anomaly in their catalog and they have it but don't know it, I bring this to your attention and invite your comments.

And one further comment. Is there an alternate source with a similar price? (Around $60)

Thanks much!!

Amazon is similar to ebay....they have other vendors that sell products through amazon.

But that one ships directly from amazon itself. But its not a motorcraft part.

Got mine there too I had to send back the first one I took it all apart and put it all together and the degas cap wouldnt fit on the bottle cap correctly  I wasn't happy.

no sh**t, I had the same problem and the cap wouldn't lock or go on all the way but my car was leaking so bad that I needed it and just went up to auto zone and got a new cap for 4 bucks lol.

I got my 1st one from Napa and had the same problem, the threads on the bottle looked like the taper was upside down. I bought 3 different caps and none fit right. I took it back to Napa and bought an amazon one.

I was so pissed the threads on the bottle were messed up I tried a new cap and no luck.
Am I the only one with a first gen 125K mile on the origonal degas bottle?

I had about 131 thousand on mine when i replaced it

I have the dorman product too. It is definitely cheaper and thinner plastic and the lid doesn't seem like it wants to center itself too well when trying to screw it down. It sometimes takes a couple of attempts to get it to center up. It works though and was about $65 I think and was purchased off of Ebay. Better than the roughly $150 Ford wanted.

Mine had about 180K when it finally went.

I hope I didnt jinx myself... I am out of town and have to drive 250 miles home tomorow.
