Degas bottle coolant leak question.....

My degas bottle crapped out last night and i over heated twice. Looks like the engine vent hose broke off from the bottle but is still connected slides in and out.. I know a repair is not going to fix it and will be ordering the replacement Fri. My question is i drove the car home last night no problems except no heat when idle reason being no pressure at idle but heat works fine at cruising speed. As long as i keep a eye on the coolant and don't let it drop low will it be ok to drive??

As long as you watch the temperature gauge and stop if it goes past the half-way mark, you should be okay for a couple of days.
You will likely find that you have other cooling system parts to change too.

The engine air-bleed hose attaches to the top of the bottle to a copper looking tube that goes down to near the bottom of the bottle, on the inside. Is this tube what is now loose and sliding in and out?
This is not be be confused with the heater air bleed. It physically attaches to a stud on the degas bottle, but has no hydraulic connection to the bottle. The bottle just holds it in place there so that you can get to the bleed screw.

Hi new here I have had problems with the wifes car for about three year she never complaind about the cold But this year in Minnesota it is about -30 with the wind chill at -50 So this is what I have done New degas bottle New water pump New Dual climate control Valve flush system bleed system many times I have alittle warm on passenger no heat on drivers changed the three sensors in the plenum two and the in vehicle temp I tried to pull the codes But the ones I got were 24-28 or 28-24 and 16-76 or 16-78 But like a dummy I accedently deleted them I bought a used DATC module and would like help on taking out the module with out breaking plastic Oh I forgot to mention It is 2000 lincoln LS 3.9 and dead battery almost every night I started pulling fuses out but read about the module can cause this?

Removing the (Gen2) console top is pretty easy....

Place trans in neutral
(optional) I would remove the shift knob.
Open the door for the accessory ports
Reach in the opening and, with your finger, pull the top end of the console out a little. GENTLY use a flat head screwdriver to pry the top ....ends of the console away from the area next to the power ports.
Again, GENTLY lift the console up, front to rear. If you feel more comfortable, you can use the screwdriver release the remaining 4 tabs ....(there are 6 total).

Console top removed!!


NEVER MIND...... I missed that this is a Gen1..... Gen1 is easier.......

Yep, that's the engine air bleed. Be sure to get the Motorcraft degas bottle. The Dorman one is a waste of money.

yes we cant stress it enough don't get anything but the motorcraft one from the dealer. if you get anything else you will be back with the same issue in a month or so.
