Deepest mufflers with no rap?

The car sounds like junk.

I have a 97 LSC, i removed the 3rd cat and added an x pipe for performance.

Then i removed the mufflers and put straight pipes out the back for sound.

Well guys, It sounds like Sh*T. I can play with my right foot and make it sound OK, but if i rev it in neutral or taking off from a dead stop i get the bumblebee fart can sound in the high r's.

The gf's car sounds good (base model w/ 3rd cat still and no muffs) but i am getting ALOT of rap and popping out of the exhaust, so i have to get mufflers.

Just straight pipes would sound good if i had the 3rd cat but i dont anymore.

It seriously sounds like a import fart can with a v8 making it twice as fart canny.

It makes me and baby jeebus cry. :(

I want some ultra deep mufflers...was thinking magnaflow or if geno gets back to me maybe his muffs..

what do you guys think? I just want something that is DEEP and will sound GOOD, something with some bass so you can feel the exhaust would be key.
 
If you want we can knock a set in for you on Sat. 3/21? I have a full cat back sometime in the am but the afternoon should be free. Let me know.

Oh and they are DEEP and throaty.
 
i was suppose to be working but that WOULD be in time for the english town thing...

agreed, but im still going to get the bumble bee and rapping out of a 2.5 system. And its overkill for me on an otherwise stock vehilce, it just doesnt make sense at the time to replace the whole exhaust for sound only, when i can do that with only mufflers.


I did pick up 3mpg with no muffs surprisingly lol
 
put a magnaflow di/do w/ x pipe in the middle..........thats what im gonna do next, currently i got the third cat with an x pipe after it with no mufflers...........i like how it sounds
 
it would sound great if i did that, unfortunately i removed the 3rd cat so now it sounds ricey

what does it sound like with only a middle muffler?
 
You must not be a fan of the raw sound of the 4.6 DOHC... sounds nothing like a 4 cylinder with a fart can...
 
Yeah I've been getting lots of compliments on what I just had done. Even had a saturn ion try to race me. Little did I know it was supercharged....not that it made a difference, still killed him. Mine is definitely loud, all 2.5" after manifolds, I have high flow cats installed right before the xpipe, then straight out the back.
 
I had the same set up and I agree its sounds like a sack full of ass. I took the X pipe out [it was in place of the 3rd cat] had the small cats hollowed out and put a dual in dual out Flowmaster Delta series put in its place with MagnaFlow tips. I flat out love it now.

I can understand how you feel. I don't have an xpipe but I removed the muffs on my car, it sounded ok but the drone was insane! Shortly after I installed a bullet in place of the resonator(still have third cat), it reduced drone(still some) and sounds really good.

Hopefully I can get a clip soon.
 
i just chopped off the muffs and i like the sound..... it sounds better than most cars on the road for the price of a 5 dollar saw blade...

Huge fan of the raw sound of the 4.6 but right now- sounds WORSE then a 4 banger sportin a fart can

The drone doesnt bother me, its the junky fart can rumble it has.

Yes it does sound good...until you remove the 3rd cat and put an x pipe in place of it.

My girlfriend has a 98 with all 3 cats, resonator removed, and straight pipes, and it sounds sweet.
 
Geno's system came on my Mark when I bought it. Double X and the Double tip muffs. I would have preferred the single tips but man does this car sound beautiful. No words can express how much I love to get on it. My old Marks had no reason to go over 2500rpms as I would be plenty up to speed in that range, now I will travel up to about 5k without thinking about it. I highly recomend his products.

Lux, I have magnaflow magnapacks for mine.....I'm eliminating the 3rd cat and putting an X in its place and doing 2 1/2 dual all the waty back.....doing it this sunday....I'll let you know how the magnapacks sound.

that sounds pretty good...sounds almost like mine but without the annoying fart can resonance through the exhaust when you rev it.

love the leaf that goes flying by! lol

That sounds great revving but the idle? I HATE the way our engines sound idling, that BLUB, BLUB, BLUB, BLUB!! HATE IT!! LOL!! That does sound mean though under a revving.
