hey guys im looking to get some good rear deck speakers, i know there 6x9 and i was wondering if any of you have had any good luck with any speakers. i have a couple of 12's in my truck so im looking to get better mid and highs (bass is not a problem anymore). i was thinking of putting in some bass blockers but i have no idea how these work and how well...but any ideas would be great.
 
i got 4 kicker k35's in my mark 8 for mids and they are AMAZING, running off stock deck, idk what you have in your ls but if your looking for good mids kicker k35's are the way to go.
 
alpine has been good to me.

bass blockers are just capasitors that go inline with one of the speaker wires, and unless you reroute you speaker wire from the back doors to the rear deck you will need an amp to drive them, and i would use the HPF in the amp instead of bassblockers
 
In the factory system the 6x9s on the rear deck are used as subs. If your still running them off the factory amp they will be low passed. Highs/mids come from the door speakers.
 
ya i was looking at the kappas and they sound great. all i have right now is the stock deck because i wanted to keep it with a high-low converter. then i have a 2000 watt awp in the truck. so you think i cant just throw 6x9's on the rear deck because they will only be lows because i know there only 1 ways?
 
Yes only bass will come out of factory amp replacing them with aftermarkets with out changing other stuff does not sound or work well
 
the easiest way is to run new speaker wire from the rear doors (or just before it goes into the doors)to the rear deck location, and your rear door speakers will no longer work

or you get a new amp for the extra speakers you wnt to put in. you will need to use a line output converter to get a signal for the amp and you will probable need to get it from behind the radio (if you are using the factory radio)
 
BTW I would focus on front speakers first since they will be the ones you hear the most and are the most critical for good sound since the rears are for fill in
 
yah i just had to put in a line output converter for my other awp that i wired to my trunk(2000 max watt, forgot rms). i might wire the deck 6x9s to that awp but i wanted to dedicated that awp to the sub so i dont know. I want to upgrade my front door speakers but they look like a pain in the ass to change so i dont know.
 
Front door is easy to change. I just cant find a place for the tweeter I am happy with for separates. If I can find another 6x8 adapter plate that has the mid offset so there is room for the tweeter I will do that. Otherwise I think I might end up trying the Boston 6x8 plate speakers.
 
IIRC there are screws at the bottom of the door two in the armrest and them just pop off plastic clips. Once the panel is off the speaker is right there.
 
there are complete instructions in the tech articles at the top of the page for replacing speakers
 
i think it would be a very bad ideal to drive full range speakers off of the amp that drives the subs, unless there are seperate channels with seperate gain or level adjustments. not to mention that since you tapped into the factory subs for the line output converter, you are still only sending low bass to them which still puts you in the same position of needing a new amp, so again i say the easiest way to put them there is to run new speaker wire from the rear doors to the new speaker location, or you could just replace the four door speakers and call it an easy day
