I noticed there are two factory cut speaker holes in the rear deck by the brake light. This is for the alpine system right? Can I buy two factory speakers and wire them there? I would need an amp I would assume, correct?

Also, for those of you with an aftermarket pioneer/sony deck, I just bought the ASWI-PS steering wheel control interface for $23 shipped on ebay. instead of 50-80 everywhere else.

yea those two holes are for the factory subs and there is an amp the bolts up next to them, if you want to put your own speakers in there, you will either need an amp to power them or you can re run the sp wire from the rear door (sh!tty location)to the rear deck

yes because rear Speakers play only Low frequency and with the Alpine Sound System you have an 85w Ampli for Rear 6x9 ''subs'' Speaker. If you want a good Sound system in your LS you should install the Alpine Sound system it play very well, but if you want better you need to change the radio and all speaker and put component speaker and change tweeter and install an ampli for all speaker and another for sub if you want to have a subwoofer

I think I still have the factory amp that I pulled out when I changed the radio if your looking to go with that. When I pulled it out it worked fine, let me know if your interested.

Do you think there is room for 2 10" in that rear deck?

I have some pretty crappy like 150 RMS 10" Polks I can get for $20 a piece with small amp.

That's going to require a bit of cutting. Anything is possible but you would have to just put a template back there and see if there's enough room.

Do you have a factory or aftermarket radio?

Ok. I have the Avic F90BT and have Infinity Kappas in all four doors hooked up to an Alpine four channel. The sound is amazing. The idea of putting rear speakers in the rear deck cross my mind as well. A friend of mine has an 03 LS with the factory subs, and I listened to it and it sounds dam good in the car. Actually sounds like he has a ten in the trunk when he doesn't and he still has the factory radio. Are you looking to put full range speakers in the rear deck or 6x9 subwoofers? This is the dilemma I'm having. If you want to go with 6x9 subwoofers, go with these: http://www.woofersetc.com/p3077/CL69--CDT-Audio-6x9"-200-Watts-Midsubwoofer.htm I'm thinking about putting these in my rear deck. I use to have a twelve but I just want all around good sound with sacrificing my trunk space anymore.

Good info. I will look into these speakers tonight. How many watts do you have going to the speakers? If you ad the rear deck lid speakers, will you need another amp? I am looking to have a great all around sound. I dont want crazy bass and I need the room in the trunk like you. Have you thought abought adding tweeters? I was thinking about adding them somewhere up front like the cadi's.

I think the Alpine amp is rated at like 45 watts per channel or something in that ball park. If I do decide to get the subs in the deck, yes I will need another amp. I would like to be able to control them from the deck and make sure they are only getting low frequencies. My kappas have the tweeters that you can rotate and angled up towards the listener so the imaging is pretty good. I had thought about putting another set but I don't think I need to. May hook the center console speakers back up and play around with that option.

Those speakers that you provided the link for are 4 ohms. The rear deck speakers are 2 ohm.

It do not matter in this case because I do not have no rear speakers to begin with and no factory amp. So basically I can use whatever speaker or amp combo I want.
