i was inquiring about another truck to add to my collection. i was looking at a 2004 f250 with the 6.0 in it. i was looking at it on the internet and inquired about a price for it. the salesperson left me a message that said, "i just recently took this truck on trade from a local person." i went to look at the truck in person and after looking at the sticker, it said that it was a manufacturer buyback. i hate liars, and looks like i will not buy the truck from them. correct me if im wrong, a buyback vehicle is one that was more than likely a lemon?

Well, I'm sure they "bought it back" as a trade for something else. Like another truck just like it that happens to not be a lemon :p

as far as i know, if it was not a "lemon" it would not be marked on the window sticker as a manufacturer buyback. i believe that it would only be marked as a personally used vehicle. the other categories in this column include: flooded vehicle, rebuilt vehicle, etc

AFAIK, if it were a trade-in, it would not be listed as a "buy-back". That terminology is indicative of a lemon law buy-back.

FWIW, a bought-back 6.0 may not be a bad buy, if you can get them down to a reasonable price (and a buy-back should, IMHO, be sold at or close to a wholesale price). Ford had a lot of problems with the 6.0 PowerStroke, so much so that Ford and International wound up in court over it, but it looks like they've finally gotten the PCM code worked out to fix most of the problems.

I know my dad has been much happier with his '05 F350 PowerStroke since the last PCM reflash. (I don't know if they did anything other than reflash the PCM, but they didn't have the truck very long.)
