does anyone know how to deactivate the vcs?? every time i get in the car and start it the radio works for a few seconds then mutes for about 10 to 20 seconds. it is driving me nuts!! i disconnected a plug in back but then i lost my steering wheel controls and illumination on the radio. i need to know how to do it correctly. the dealership said that they don't know how to deactivate and recommended that i go to a stereo shop. i don't think so. any help???

I am not trying to be when I say this, but read the owners manual. We used to turn off the seatbelt sensors in his car and it was in the owners manual how to do it. Some crazy stuff like turn car on, off, honk the horn twice, yada, yada, yada.

Just a thought.

What year? Do you have back uip sensors or a factory cell phone? If so, there should be a wire to the back of your radio for mute. You will need to look at a wiring diagram for your particular year and model sound system.

But I wonder what the real problem is here.

it is a 2002 and i have no backup sensor. the factory phone is what i want to deactivate.

The owner's manual says the fuse in port 27 in the fuse panel behind the right kick panel works the cellphone and VCS. Why not try removing that?
