does anyone know how to deactivate the vehicle communication system on a 2002 ls v8 with the 6 disk alpine system? the dealer wont tell me anything except it is a plug somewhere in the car.:Bang

I can't be of any help on this particular issue other than to say they probably wont tell you because they want you to bring it in so they can charge you. Or they are too lazy to look it up. If I were you, I would call the parts department and ask them as they would have a better idea of where it is located. Best of luck.

it is the factory phone system that sucks. it takes control of my radio every time i start the car saying that the phone is absent. i already tried to replace the phone but the car said that it was the wrong phone esn.(electronic serial number)
 
The telematics module and Portable Support Electronics Modules are in the trunk on the left hand side. Remove the trim panal and you will see the bolts hold it them Take them both out and unplug them, that might work.

ok so 6 months later i noticed that you responded to my thread. i still had no luck so i decided to do what you said. i unplugged one harness to no effect i moved to another plug and well lets just say that you are a genius LincolnTech38!!!! thank you very much. its great that i now have use of the mute button on the steering wheel and on the radio. thanks again!!!:D :D
