I'm in the middle or replacing the DCCV , what is the function of the valve ( or whatever it is ) with the 2 hoses ( hot water ) and electrical connector , the one that has the mount that slides over 2 pins on the side / back of radiator? What happens when it fails?

Thanks in advance

I think that you are talking about the aux pump, if your LS is a V8.
The aux pump is needed to get good heat out (of the heater) when the engine is at or near idle. Failure of the aux pump would result in poor heat from the climate control when idling or at low speeds.
