Dash problems

I have a 2000 LS that has been very good to me. I recently pushed the fuel check button and something inside popped and now the fuel button, along with the reset and status buttons are now hanging in the dash rather then being attached.
I was wondering if this had happened to anyone else, and how I could fix it?
Any help would be appretiated. Thank you!

Common problem. Epoxy works well. Pull out the center vent panel and you will likely find that the button assembly is broken at each of the two screw bosses that holds it on.

Next question, How do I pull out the center vent panel? Does it just pop off?

It just pulls straight out. It is easiest to do with some sort of hook tool.
